The New York Proton Regional Center will be a 250,000 square foot Proton Therapy Cancer Treatment center.   The center will consist of five treatment rooms and a research room.  It is anticipated to be the first of its kind in New York City. The development will include a Proton Therapy cancer treatment center, an oncology program, and oncology/radiology call center. The facility also intends to conduct clinical research, training and education in physics, chemistry and bioengineering.

The Center will have clinical partnerships with various medical centers including New York MedScan, a leading provider of outpatient imaging in New York City. The Facility will use technology provided by Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd., one of the most experienced providers of particle therapy globally. The key personnel of the project have direct experience in developing proton therapy centers, design, construction, manufacturing, clinical operations, real estate development, and government regulation and oversight.

A call center will also be constructed adjacent to the primary New York Proton Regional Center facility. Proton radiation treatment differs from standard radiation therapy. If given in sufficient doses, conventional radiation therapy techniques will control many cancers. However, because of the physician's inability to adequately conform the irradiation pattern to the cancer, healthy tissues may be damaged with radiation.
